- The bot token from BotFather
Creating a bot
- Open Telegram and search for
@BotFather - Send
/newbotand follow the prompts to name your bot - BotFather returns a bot token — save it securely
Credentials
| Credential | Where to find |
|---|---|
| Bot Token | BotFather → your bot → API Token |
| Webhook Secret | A secret string you choose; passed to setWebhook as secret_token |
Configuration
- Navigate to Settings → Credentials in the dashboard
- Click Add Credential and select Telegram
- Enter your Bot Token and Webhook Secret
- Click Save
Webhook setup
Configure the webhook URL for your Telegram bot:
- The webhook is set via the Telegram Bot API
setWebhookmethod - Set the URL to:
https://connect.ataca.io/v1/incoming_webhooks/telegram(BYOK: append?tenant=<org>, as shown on the credentials page) - Pass the same Webhook Secret as
secret_token
You can set the webhook using curl:
curl -X POST "https://api.telegram.org/bot<BOT_TOKEN>/setWebhook" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"url": "https://connect.ataca.io/v1/incoming_webhooks/telegram", "secret_token": "<WEBHOOK_SECRET>"}'
Telegram sends the secret in the X-Telegram-Bot-Api-Secret-Token header on every update. Connect rejects updates without a matching header.
Contact matching
Telegram messages are delivered using the contact's phone number. The recipient must have a Telegram account associated with that phone number and must have started a conversation with your bot first.
BYOK
Each organization can use its own Telegram bot for independent message delivery.
